Comparison: EDGE Replay vs. Echo1612

Comparison: EDGE Replay vs. Echo1612

In recent weeks we’ve done a detailed sideline instant replay comparison between Sport Scope’s EDGE Replay and the Hudl Sideline. Today we’re going to contrast the major differences between the EDGE and the Echo1612.

Recording Device Size Comparison

The size difference between the Echo T100 recording device and the EDGE recording box is substantial. Take a look at the pictures below. Which recording device would you rather be handling?

It should be noted that the EDGE recording box comes in at just under 5 oz whereas the T100 weighs in at approximately 92 oz! That's over 18 times the weight of the EDGE box!

Carrying Case and Overall Equipment Comparison

In terms of how the equipment of both systems is delivered, this is another big contrast. The Echo1612 two view system provides you with multiple large, heavy hard cases. The difference in quantity and size of pieces and parts is massive.

Compare that with the single carrying case that the EDGE two view system fits comfortably inside. Not to mention the optional Endzone hard case modified specifically for the EDGE. The pictures speak for themselves.

As for the weight comparison, once again it's not even close. The EDGE two view system in its single carrying case weighs in at about 10 lbs. One single view case for the Echo is over 22 lbs. For a two view system that's 44 lbs to carry around. Dimensions of the complete system and carrying case for the EDGE is 17" x 10" x 7". A single view case for Echo is 20" x 17" x 8".

The custom weather-proof hard case for the EDGE Replay is a much easier size to handle as well. At just 11" x 10" x 5" the EDGE hard case has also been modified to run your equipment within the case during the game.

Replay System Price Comparison

Both the one angle and two angle Echo packages have a much higher starting price point than the EDGE one and two angle packages. Although the annual software renewal is slightly less than the EDGE, the cost difference, even long term, is a large discrepancy, especially with the two view package.

  • Total Cost After 5 Years – 1 Angle           EDGE - $3,195           Echo1612 - $3,799
  • Total Cost After 5 Years – 2 Angle           EDGE - $3,995           Echo1612 - $5,099
